Authors’ Notebook: Success in Scarsdale!

100 RANGER GREATS co-author Adam Raider files the following report "from the road" as our publicity tour in support of the book continues:

“What a terrific turnout we had in Scarsdale last night. This was the first book signing in which all three authors -- myself, Russ Cohen, and John Halligan -- were able to attend. I wish we could do this more often, but geography and scheduling make it difficult.

“Personally, I found the experience to be altogether surreal, having grown up just 15 minutes down the road in Yonkers (yes, I admit it … but let’s not linger on the point, shall we?). Family and friends were there to show their support, including my high school English teacher, Jack Hasson. What a wonderful surprise. And then I thought, ‘How is it that this man still looks young while I’m aging like the picture of Dorian Gray?’

“The folks at American Legends did an OUTSTANDING job promoting and hosting this event, and we look forward to working with them again. Of course, this signing would not have been as successful without the participation of two great Rangers: Pete Stemkowski and Dave Maloney.

“Dave and Stemmer shared some stories of their colorful careers, and their thoughts on the current Rangers squad. When I predicted that a future edition of 100 RANGER GREATS could include the likes of Marc Staal and Ryan Callahan, Dave agreed but cautioned, ‘With the way players move around these days, you just never know.’

“We also agreed that Henrik Lundqvist will spend most or all of his career in New York and, should he continue to perform at this high level, could one day crack the top ten of the greatest all-time Rangers. That is very high praise for a player entering just his fifth season, but Henrik has already proven his worth to the Rangers and established himself as one of the top two or three goaltenders in the world (of course, we’re a little biased).

“And what would a signing be without people to sign for? These fans were hardcore, braving the cold and rain to show their True Blue spirit … and on a weeknight! We hope they have as much fun reading 100 RANGER GREATS as we had writing it.

“It really was a special evening that none of us will ever forget.”

Best book on sports I've ever read. This is what a book about a team should be - and I'd love to see one about the NY Mets (or even the Yankees), the NY Giants (or the Jets), etc.
Great reading - terrific photos - great job!!!
