This date in Rangers history: December 14, 1974

Rangers left wing Greg Polis sets a team record with 33 penalty minutes in one game as the Rangers lose to the St. Louis Blues, 6-2. The two teams combine for 256 penalty minutes in the match, including 196 in the final period.
Ironically, Polis had spent the previous year with St. Louis, where he recorded only 24 penalty minutes the entire season.

I believe I watched this game. I think Polis body slammed a Blues player to the ice. It really made an impression on me if this was the game.
