About the authors
Russ Cohen hosts a hockey show on XM Satellite Radio, writes for NHL publications and is a founder of the Sportsology network.

John Halligan (1941-2010) spent 24 years with the New York Rangers as Public Relations Director, Business Manager and VP of Communications. He is the author of three previous books about the team: NEW YORK RANGERS: SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS, NEW YORK RANGERS: IMAGES OF SPORTS and GAME OF MY LIFE: NEW YORK RANGERS.

Adam Raider has covered the NHL for numerous publications including The Hockey News, Hockey Digest and Street & Smith’s Sports Business Journal.

This date in Rangers history: February 8, 1997

At Long Island, Rangers captain Mark Messier scores his 19th career hat trick in the Rangers' 5-2 win over the Islanders. Remarkably, Messier's hat trick was the first by a Ranger at Nassau Coliseum in the 25-year history between the two rivals.
